This Privacy Policy explains how KBANG MANAGEMENT LTD. ("K-Bang," "we," "us," or "our"), the operator of K-Bang (케이방), collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information in connection with the K-Bang website (k-bang.com), mobile app, and related services (together, the "Service"). Please read it together with our Terms of Service.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service. Where applicable law requires consent for a particular use, we will obtain it.

1. WHO THIS POLICY APPLIES TO

This Policy applies to anyone who accesses or uses the Service, including visitors, registered members, advertisers, and people who contact us. The Service is intended for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The Service is not currently offered to residents of Quebec.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account information

When you create an account, we may collect your email address, password, nickname, city or area, and optional profile photo.

Public profile and User Content

Your nickname, profile photo, and city or area may be visible to other users and to anyone who views public content. We do not display the email address you use to log in on your public profile, and we do not display your password.

We collect content you choose to submit, such as community posts, comments, questions and answers, marketplace listings, photos, and links. Public content may be viewed by anyone. If you include personal information in public content, that information may also become public.

Interests and activity

We may collect your areas of interest, likes, reports, inquiries you send us, and other information about how you use the Service. If you ask us to prepare a paid post, we may collect the contact details and other information needed to prepare and publish it. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers; we generally do not receive your full payment-card number.

Automatically collected information

We may collect your IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, pages or features viewed, and the date and time of activity.

Location information

If you allow location access, we use it only to help identify your area when you choose it. This is optional, and you can choose your area manually instead. We do not use location access to track you in the background. You can turn it off through your device settings.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies needed for the Service to work, such as keeping you logged in and remembering your settings. We also use Mixpanel to understand how people use the Service and improve it. Mixpanel may receive your device type, browser, approximate location based on your IP address, and Service activity, which may be linked to your account. We do not currently use cookies or analytics for retargeting or to show targeted ads on other websites or apps. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some features may not work without them. Browser settings may not affect analytics collected through our app. If you have questions about our analytics or would like your analytics data deleted, contact us at office@k-bang.com.

3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We may use personal information to:

- create and manage accounts and provide the Service;

- display public profiles and User Content as described above and in our Terms of Service;

- provide local content, interest-based updates, and service notifications;

- prepare, translate, summarize, write, format, and publish paid posts that you ask us to create;

- promote K-Bang using User Content as permitted by our Terms of Service. Before sharing User Content on social media, advertising platforms, or other marketing channels, we remove or obscure personal information that identifies you where reasonably possible. We do not intentionally use your name, email address, phone number, or other direct identifiers in those promotional materials. If we want to use content in which you can be personally identified, such as a photo of you or a personal story, we will ask for your permission first;

- send service-related emails and, only where you have subscribed or provided the required consent, promotional emails;

- moderate content, prevent fraud, protect users and the Service, and enforce our Terms of Service;

- understand, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service;

- respond to questions, reports, and requests; and

- comply with law and protect our legal rights, users, property, and safety.

We will not use personal information for a materially new purpose without telling you and obtaining consent where required by law.

4. NOTIFICATIONS AND EMAILS

If you allow push notifications, we may send service-related notifications, such as replies and likes on your posts, and news and information about your areas of interest. You can turn off push notifications in your device or account settings.

We do not currently send promotional push notifications. If we introduce them, we will request separate consent where required by law and provide a way to withdraw it.

We may send service-related emails when needed to operate your account or the Service. We send promotional emails only to people who have subscribed, requested them, or otherwise provided the consent required by applicable law, including Canada's anti-spam law. Every promotional email includes an unsubscribe method. We process unsubscribe requests without delay and within the time required by law.

5. HOW WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION

Public information

Information that you choose to place in a public profile or User Content may be visible to other users and the public.

Service providers

We use companies that help us run the Service, including providers of hosting and data storage, payment processing, push notification and email delivery, analytics such as Mixpanel, and AI tools. We provide only the information reasonably needed for them to provide services to us, and they must protect it and use it for authorized purposes.

Promotional channels

When we promote K-Bang using User Content, we may share de-identified or obscured excerpts, images, or other content with social media, advertising, or other marketing platforms. We do not intentionally include information that directly identifies you in those materials unless you have given us permission. Those platforms may handle the content under their own privacy policies.

Legal and business disclosures

We may disclose personal information where required or permitted by applicable law, including to respond to lawful legal process or to address fraud, security incidents, or threats to safety. We may also disclose information in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

6. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

We use AI tools provided by third parties to help us run the Service, such as to create or summarize our own content (for example, news), to translate or summarize posts and inquiries, and to prepare paid posts that you ask us to create.

We do not intentionally submit information that directly identifies you, such as your name, email address, phone number, or facial image, to third-party AI tools, except contact details you ask us to include in your paid post. Before using these tools, we remove or redact personal information that is not needed for the task. We use AI tools only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. These providers process information on our behalf as service providers or processors where applicable, and, where the option is available, we use settings that do not allow them to use your information to train their AI models.

7. STORAGE OUTSIDE CANADA

Some service providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information stored or processed outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or national-security authorities there.

8. RETENTION AND DELETION

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize account information within a reasonable time, except information we must keep for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or safety reasons, such as payment records or information needed to prevent a suspended user from creating a new account.

Posts, comments, and photos may remain on the Service after account deletion, but the author is displayed as "deleted user" and the content is no longer linked to your account. If you want this content removed, you can delete it before deleting your account or ask us to remove it, and we will do so unless we must keep it for legal or safety reasons. Copies in backups are deleted over time as part of our regular backup cycle.

9. SECURITY

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service or storage system is completely secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will provide notice as required by applicable law.

10. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS AND CHOICES

Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:

- provide access to personal information we hold about you;

- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;

- delete your account or personal information;

- stop using your User Content in future promotional materials;

- unsubscribe from promotional emails;

- turn off push notifications or location access; and

- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, subject to legal or contractual limits.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and explain any permitted extension or refusal. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy commissioner in your province.

11. LINKS TO OTHER SERVICES

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before providing information.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email at least 30 days before they take effect, and obtain consent where required by law. However, where permitted by law, changes that are urgently needed for legal or security reasons may take effect immediately, and we will notify you as soon as possible. The "Last Updated" date shows when this Policy was last changed.
